Our Ancestors,Yoshida Gofukuten

Our ancestors founded Yoshida Gofukuten (Kimono store) in the Meiji era(1868-1912). Reading the literature of that time, we can see that the ideas and morals that existed, which are now considered eco-friendly and sustainable, were taken for granted and practiced on a daily basis.

Our pride echoes the craftsmanship of Yoshida Gofukuten. UTOGARIA Japan Studio reflects our ancestor's thought into Japanese denim and is weaving the essence of tradition into every stitch.

Japanese tradition and functions necessary for today's world

We produce only three models of selvedge denim products per year, made in Japan. In Okayama, the world's selvedge denim capital, our craft people have carefully repaired and use old looms that are rarely seen in the world today. Our ancestors, who sold kimonos, took pride in enriching people's lives and bringing smiles to their faces through clothing. Our style is to add elements to the spirit of careful Japanese craftsmanship that is necessary for modern people.

A RI GA TO U

From what we have read in our ancestors' books, the word "Thank you" is written in large brush strokes on the cover of the notebooks. The notebook was filled with many words of gratitude to various people. It says that we should be thankful for everything, because it is only when we treat everyone from our suppliers to our customers with a spirit of altruism rather than self-love that we can continue to deliver wonderful products that enrich people's lives. To reflect this sentiment in our brand name, we chose the Japanese word "Arigatou" (thank you) read from the opposite side of the word. We are thankful to everyone in the world for every stitch of our products, every time we pack them in a bag. Hope our products can make your daily life brighter.

ARIGATOU.
